The appropriate use of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for cancer patients may be the most important problem in surgical patient care. Significant advances in surgical technique, as evidenced by MIS, have an effect on early perioperative morbidity, length of hospital stay, pain management, and quality of life issues. However, the most pressing clinical issues have traditionally been addressed in the context of prospective randomized studies for oncology patients. This review article addresses many of the significant disagreements around minimally invasive cancer therapy using a pro-con argument structure.The appropriate use of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for cancer patients may be the most important problem in surgical patient care.
